About Us
Mock Trial at BU Law is a student-run trial advocacy program. Members are taught how to write and conduct direct examinations, cross-examinations, opening statements, closing arguments, and motions in limine, and are given a strong foundation in the Federal Rules of Evidence and associated objections. Students use their skills to prepare and conduct fictional cases both in internal events and in competitions before actual practicing judges and attorneys. Unique among major law schools, BU Law’s Mock Trial program is open to 1Ls–even for external traveling competitions! Joining provides participants with an opportunity to learn about and participate in a part of legal practice that is critically important, and training for which is only otherwise available at BU through much more time-intensive options.
