Hi, everyone!

Happy Monday! As a reminder, one way you can get involved with HOMES right away is by joining City Life/Vida Urbana at their weekly tenant organizing meetings. City Life is a 50+ year-old grassroots organization fighting for racial, social, and economic justice through direct action, coalition building, education, and advocacy. They hold meetings every Tuesday (in English) in Jamaica Plain and every Wednesday (in Spanish) in East Boston to build community and inform people about their housing rights. If you'd like to attend a meeting with members of HOMES this week, please fill out the Google form below!

Show solidarity with Palestinians! Today, at 4:30 pm, there will be a protest near Kendall Square in support of an arms embargo. MIT’s relationships with Elbit, Maersk, and the IMOD are contributing to Israel’s genocide against Palestinians and its violent expansion to the West Bank, Lebanon, and beyond. More information can be found here. Then tonight, there will be a community vigil at 8:00 pm on BU Beach. “Feel free to bring poems and written works as we will open the floor to mourn, grieve, and memorialize the thousands of lives lost.” This week, there will also be a daily Writing Names of Our Martyrs every day from Tuesday, October 8th to Friday, October 11th from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm in Marsh Plaza. Finish the week off with a Rally for Palestine at 2:30 pm in Marsh Plaza!

Get Inspired at the Boston Liberation Center! The organization will be hosting an open mic night this Friday, October 11th from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm at 194 Blue Hill Avenue, Roxbury, MA. Aparna Paul (she/her)–”writer, chemical engineer, banana bread enthusiast, & amateur crossword constructor based in Cambridge, MA”–will be there performing some slam poetry.

STOP THE WAR ON HAITANS! Join the Party for Socialism & Liberation this Saturday, October 12th, at Cambridge Community Television (The Classroom) for a free community teach-in from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided!

We hope you all have a fantastic week! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to any HOMES board member for help. Stay strong and keep up the good fight!
