This week is our BU OutLaw x BC Lambda Bar Review. It's on Thursday, February 13th at 7 pm at Hopewell. This is a great opportunity to meet other queer law students! Light bites will be provided.
Teach-In/Know Your Rights Training: Join ILPS, the BU Immigrants’ Rights Clinic (IRC), and PILS for a teach-in by Professor Sherman-Stokes to learn more about Trump’s recent executive orders and a Know Your Rights presentation on Thursday, February 13th from 5:00pm - 6:30pm in Room 103! This is an important chat to learn what steps we can take to protect ourselves, our families, and our communities in the face of increased immigration enforcement. The event will conclude with a Q&A session, and we encourage attendees to submit their questions here. This event is open to the entire BU community—students, staff, faculty, and workers are all welcome. This event is not open to the public. Please reach out to ilpsbu@gmail.com if you have any questions. (Pizza will be provided!) This is also right before our bar review, so go to this and then come to Hopewell!

For those interested in volunteering with PAIR to assist them with intakes in the ICE unit at Plymouth County Correctional Facility, this training will introduce you to ICE detention and PAIR's intake process. All are welcome, even if you're unable to volunteer this semester.

Calling All 3Ls The UCLA Law Williams Institute is seeking a recent law school graduate (0-2 years of experience) to engage in cutting-edge and high-quality research and analysis related to sexual orientation and gender identity law and public policy. The Daniel. H. Renberg Law Fellow will further the Williams Institute’s mission over the course of two years by conducting multi-disciplinary research on discrimination facing LGBTQ people, LGBTQ health, LGBTQ families, and criminal justice, among other topics. The Fellow will provide research and writing support to senior scholars at the Institute and will contribute to self-published reports, academic articles, public comments, amicus briefs, and other Institute work. The position will be based in Los Angeles, California, and will have a hybrid schedule (part-time in office, part-time remote). Find out more here! Aplication is due February 13, so apply soon!
Calling All 3Ls The Lessow Reproductive Health Law Fellowship is a new program dedicated to helping a graduating third-year J.D. student secure a year-long placement at a nonprofit organization or government agency engaged in impactful advocacy to promote women’s and pregnant persons’ reproductive rights. The overarching goal of the fellowship is to help launch careers dedicated to advancing women’s and pregnant person’s reproductive rights and justice in the broader field of reproductive health.
The fellowship provides $65,000 plus benefits (insurance, etc.) plus up to $14,720 that can be used for various expenses, including moving, bar prep, educational loans etc.

Calling All 1Ls and 2Ls
The Boston Bar Association's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Summer FellowshipProgram is designed to provide 1L and 2L JD Candidates from underrepresented backgrounds with valuable, hands-on experience in public interest law while actively contributing to the creation of a more inclusive legal community. Participants in the fellowship receive a $7,000 stipend for 10 weeks of work in the summer within a public interest office and are paired with a mentor by the BBA for the duration of the program. Funds are made possible thanks to generous donations to the Boston Bar Foundation.

You can also get in contact with BU Behavioral Medicine for more mental health resources. Did you know? They have a number of support groups, including an LGBTQ+ support group. Check them out here! For more information on the bar exam mental health character and fitness questions in other states, check out the ABA guidelines here. Remember, mental health support makes you a better advocate for your clients, as well as yourself.
