At Orientation, you will be joined by several "Welcomers," i.e. 3Ls who were transfer students last year and are excited to offer guidance on the transition. You are welcome to contact them with any questions:
Please check in on Friday, August 28, 8:45-9:30 am.
Check in details. Please check in at the Butler Atrium at the Law School beginning at 8:45 am. Look for signage and student Welcomers in red t-shirts. The schedule is available here. We will provide a final copy at check-in.
Your Terrier card. Please bring a photo ID to claim your Terrier card.
Traveling to campus. The School of Law is located at 765 Commonwealth Avenue. The entrance is behind Marsh Plaza, which is across from the BU Central stop on the B branch of the MBTA Green Line. It is also located on a BU Shuttle (“BUS”) Stop, and on MBTA #57 bus (Commonwealth Ave at St. Mary’s St). Please note that there will be move-in and undergraduate orientation activity around campus, which can impact travel times. We encourage students to use public transportation. If that is not an option, we direct you to the BU Office of Parking and Transportation for information on visitor parking. Parking is limited on campus, and therefore we are unable to offer parking passes for Orientation.
Meals. We will provide light breakfast snacks on and a cookout on Friday. For on-campus food and drink, students are encouraged to use the GrubHub app.
Attire for Orientation. Attire is casual, and we recommend dressing in layers. Lunch will be outdoors on Friday, weather permitting.
Unexpected issues. If anything comes up that impacts your ability to attend Orientation, such as symptoms of illness, please contact Student Affairs at studaff@bu.edu or 617-358-1800.
Transfer Orientation Guide
Please review the Transfer Orientation Guide webpages to prepare for your transition to BU Law. You will login to Docket to view the series of webpages that make up the guide. Please review it carefully because it contains a lot of information about the resources at BU Law, as well as the "Required Reading" information for all students. Note: If you change your BU email address, you will have trouble connecting to the Docket. Email us at studaff@bu.edu for a quick fix.
Register for the Transfer Student Lunch
Professor Jack Beermann is the faculty advisor to our transfer students, and will welcome you with a lunch on Wednesday, September 2, 12:45-2:00 pm, location to be announced. Registration is now open, and we ask that you respond by Friday, August 28, to ensure we have an accurate count for food and can consider allergies and dietary needs.
