Subject: Happy Monday, OutLaw!

Hi, everyone!

Good morning, and happy Monday! I hope everyone enjoyed the single beautiful weather day we got! We're getting soooooo close to the end of the semester and pretty weather. You've all got this!

TODAY!!! (lunch provided)
OutLaw's Final GBM of the year will be today Monday, April 7 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm in Room 204!
Come celebrate the end of the semester with OutLaw! We'll be announcing the winners of the Mentorship Program Challenge and having lunch together!

Community Support Event on Thursday, 4/10 at 1:00pm in 209
In light of the presence of DHS on campus last Thursday, the Immigration Law & Policy Society (ILPS) is hosting a Community Support Event alongside PILS, SGA, LALSA, APALSA, MESALSA, Outlaw, FGP, & NLG. The event will be on Thursday, 4/10 at 1:00pm in Room 209 and lunch will be provided. We will have professors in attendance to share their thoughts and then have an open discussion with students and professors. Our goal is to create a safe space for students and faculty to come together, share how they’re feeling, and discuss how we can advocate for a safer campus for noncitizen students.

Opportunity to Attend the MA LGBTQ Bar Association's Annual Gala: BU Law is sponsoring the MA LGBTQ Bar Association's Annual Gala, so there are 5  FREE tickets for interested law students. The Gala will take place at the New England Aquarium from 7PM-10PM on Thursday, June 12. I went to the gala last year and it was super fun (and fancy!). Please email Amber Woods (amberfw@bu.edu) if you would like to attend!

How to Testify for Trans Rights: We want to share an important resource created by the Advocates for Trans Equality. It's a comprehensive guide to testifying for trans rights in front of school boards, city councils, state legislatures, and more. Click here to view!

The Big Ten Law Schools Present Series
The Big 10 Law Schools will present a series of panel discussions which will be held on Wednesdays from March 26 to May 28. This coordinated series of virtual panel discussions will examine the rule of law in the United States in 2025 after an unprecedented series of executive orders, legal interpretations and administrative actions by the Trump administration over the last several months. Distinguished panelists will present a broad range of perspectives and nuanced views on the rule of law during a period of constitutional, legal, and governmental recalibration.

We can’t wait to see you at these events and more throughout the semester. Keep an eye on these emails for updates on events, resources, and opportunities. Feel free to reach out anytime with any questions, concerns, or song recommendations .

Now, let’s jump into what's coming up for events!

EXCITING COURSE BEING OFFERED THIS FALL 2025:
Professor John Ward will be offering the course "The Courts and The LGBT Movement:  A Critical Assessment" this coming fall.  The course will be co-taught by Chris Attorney, a senior attorney at GLAD LAW.  Chris is is part of the team of GLAD LAW lawyers who are resisting the current torrent of anti-queer legislation and executive orders, many of which are aimed with particular cruelty at LGBTQ kids.  He is lead counsel in a sports participation case involving two transgender girls in New Hampshire and has recently amended the complaint in federal court to name several federal officials, including Donald Trump. This is an exciting course, and you can find the course description HERE!
