3Ls: BU Law Grad Photo Station. There will be a photo station in The Redstone Room (10th floor, Room 1002) from 9am to 5pm on May 11th - 18th. Bring your own camera and capture pictures in front of the BU Law step and repeat. If a line forms at any time, please limit your time to 5 minutes while others are waiting. Light refreshments will be available while supplies last. Scroll to the bottom of the newsletter to see the booth.
3Ls: RSVP to 3L Farewell Dinner! Don't forget to register for the annual faculty-served Farewell Dinner that will be taking place on Tuesday, May 12th from 6-9pm in the GSU Ballroom. Deadline to ensure we can accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies is TODAY. Final deadline is May 8th. You can register in the Events section below.
ALL: Locker Cleanout by Monday, May 18th. Property left in lockers after the 18th will be considered abandoned and will be removed. Once all items are cleaned out, please keep your locker unlocked.
1Ls: Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP’s Dick Riley Scholarship Program. The program is open to current 1L law students and grants awardees with a $10,000 scholarship and a salaried summer associate position at one of the Firm’s 30 offices. The scholarship may be used toward law school tuition, fees, and selected school-related costs such as books and course materials. Learn more about the Dick Riley Scholarship Program here. ALL: BU Law Summer Reading Book Fair. Thanks to a generous donation from the family of Paul Sugarman '54, we are delighted to invite you to visit the upcoming used book fair. Starting May 7th to 19th from 10am- 3pm daily, Room 702 will be loaded with books for you to dive into for your summer reading. Depending on your interest, you can find topics that range from World War II, the biography of any US President, birds, photography, and much more.
1Ls & 2Ls: Boston University Summer Pre-Law Academy. We are hiring 3 JD students to serve as teaching assistants for BU’s Summer Pre Law Academy (BU SPLA). TAs will need to be available in person for June and be eager to engage with prospective law students in a meaningful way. TAs would be expected to attend training the week before the program begins, attend and assist in daily classes, and help supervise weekly evening and occasional weekend social outings (ex. Red Sox game) with the students. The BU Pre-Law Academy (BU-SPLA) will take place from June 1st – June 26th in person in the BU Law Tower and will be taught by BU Law faculty and staff. The program will be free of charge to all participants and will include residence, meal plan, and travel to and from Boston. The topics covered during this program include doctrinal law subjects, First Amendment law in public schools, due process, persuasive writing and advocacy, and a law school admissions boot camp. Position is paid with 20 hours per week. Please submit to Chloe Mathews (chloeam@bu.edu) a brief statement about why you are a good match for this position and why it interests you. In addition, please include your resume and an informal transcript (can be a homemade list of your fall grades; no need to request a formal version).
