ALL: The doors to the Law Tower will be unlocked Monday, April 20th.Law Complex building access website is now live for details about building access and frequently asked questions.
ALL: Library Hours. Over Patriots’ Weekend, the Fineman and Pappas Law Libraries will be open from 10 AM to 6 PM on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, April 18-20.
ALL: Law Complex Building Access During Exams Period. To support students to study and prepare for finals, the Law Complex will be swipe access for BU Law community members only starting April 24. Check the visix signs for updates and further details next week.
ALL: Spring Finals Study Break Activities. Scroll down to the bottom of the newsletter to see what is happening around the tower during reading period and finals weeks.
ALL: Upcoming Substitute Mondays. As a reminder, there are two upcoming substitute Monday class days: Wednesday, April 22 AND Thursday, April 23. Thursday, April 23 is the last day of classes due to the weather closure in February.
ALL: Green Line Closure! Starting April 22 to April 30 the B Line will be replaced with shuttle buses from Kenmore to Boston College. Please allow for more time in your commute, especially on the days of your exams.
3Ls: Nominate Students for Graduation Prizes and Awards. The Awards & Prizes Committee is seeking your input on the Commencement awards. Please use this link to provide the names of any 3Ls you think should be considered for these awards, and include your reasons for nominating them. There is no limit on the number of awards for which you can nominate a student, but detailed support for your nomination helps the committee in its consideration. Nominations must be received by Monday, April 27, at noon.
ALL: FINAL REMINDER! Taking the August MPRE? Accommodation Application Due April 23! Students registered for the August administration of the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE) who are applying for accommodations must submit their application by April 23. Documentation requests to BU Disability & Access Services must be submitted to access@bu.edu a minimum of 12 business days before they are due back to the student or to the agency. For questions, please reach out to Associate Dean Gerry Muir at gmmuir@bu.edu.
3Ls: Apply to sing the National Anthem at the 2026 Law Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, May 17, 2026. We would need you to arrive at 8:15am, but the singing would not be until just after 9, once the students file in. You would be accompanied by a band. Pay is $250. Deadline to apply is Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Please send a video or voice recording of yourself singing the National Anthem to lawevent@bu.edu to indicate interest.
1Ls & 2Ls: Come work with us in JD Admissions-Paid and Volunteer Opportunities Available for Academic Year 2026-2027! Are you a friendly and outgoing person? We'd love to have you join our team! We are currently offering both paid and volunteer opportunities. For more details on the available positions, please refer to the descriptions included in the sign-up form and apply by May 31st. 1Ls & 2Ls: Boston University Summer Pre-Law Academy. We are hiring 3 JD students to serve as teaching assistants for BU’s Summer Pre Law Academy (BU SPLA). TAs will need to be available in person for June and be eager to engage with prospective law students in a meaningful way. TAs would be expected to attend training the week before the program begins, attend and assist in daily classes, and help supervise weekly evening and occasional weekend social outings (ex. Red Sox game) with the students. The BU Pre-Law Academy (BU-SPLA) will take place from June 1st – June 26th in person in the BU Law Tower and will be taught by BU Law faculty and staff. The program will be free of charge to all participants and will include residence, meal plan, and travel to and from Boston. The topics covered during this program include doctrinal law subjects, First Amendment law in public schools, due process, persuasive writing and advocacy, and a law school admissions boot camp. Position is paid with 20 hours per week. Please submit to Chloe Mathews (chloeam@bu.edu) a brief statement about why you are a good match for this position and why it interests you. In addition, please include your resume and an informal transcript (can be a homemade list of your fall grades; no need to request a formal version).
