Announcements/Deadlines

ALL: LibraryFest! is next Thursday, September 17 from 11am-3pm. Stop by the law library’s 2nd Floor Reading Room to meet the law library team and learn more about our services, resources, and databases, complete with a nacho bar, lots of free swag, and the chance to win some great raffle prizes.

ALL: Religious Accommodations. Massachusetts law and Boston University policy require faculty and staff to accommodate students who plan to be absent due to religious observance and to provide them with a reasonable opportunity to make up an examination, study, or work requirement missed due to their religious observance, if such accommodation does not create an unreasonable burden on the faculty or staff member. For more information on this policy and guidance for implementation, visit Marsh Chapel's guidance on the BU policy on Absences for Religious Observance.

1Ls: Register for Standard 303 Workshop 1. First-year law students are invited to an engaging, interactive dialogue with BU Law alumnus John Ward (’76), founder of GLAD Law, a nonprofit legal advocacy organization serving the LGBTQIA+ community. Ward, Boston’s first openly gay male attorney and the first openly gay man to argue before the U.S. Supreme Court, will discuss how personal values, identity, external pressures, and self-acceptance shaped his career and professional impact. Lunch will be provided. This event will be hosted in the Law Auditorium from 12:45-2 pm on Friday, September 25th. Click here to register. **Please note that attendance at this event is required. This workshop fulfills the professional identity mandate under ABA Standard 303. If you are unable to attend, please notify Krista Woods (kmwoods@bu.edu) in advance.

2L/3L: FINAL REMINDER: Registration Deadline for the November MPRE: September 17. The Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) is a two-hour, 60-question multiple-choice examination that is administered three times per year. Developed by NCBE, the MPRE is required for admission to the bars of all but two US jurisdictions (Wisconsin and Puerto Rico). Please contact Tigran Eldred at eldredt@bu.edu for questions.

2L/3L: Will you help select the next generation of BU Law professors? If you are willing to serve in this leadership role, please review the requirements carefully and complete this quick survey by Friday, September 18 at NOON. Faculty interviews begin as soon as September 23, 2026, and will be scheduled on a rolling basis. NB: only 2L and 3L students are eligible to serve as Student Representatives to the Faculty Appointments Committee during the fall term.

ALL: Apply to volunteer with the MADE Project to defend tenants facing eviction here by Friday, September 18 at 5 p.m. To be a volunteer, you must attend the mandatory training and information session on Tuesday, September 22nd at 12:45pm (room 211). Lunch will be provided. If you have any questions, please contact Ibrahim AlMuasher at ialmua@bu.edu.

ALL: Faculty in the Media. Your faculty are staying busy outside the classroom. Here are some highlights from last week:
