The American Constitution Society (ACS) believes that law should be a force to improve the lives of all people. ACS works for progressive change by shaping debate on vitally important legal and constitutional issues through development and promotion of high-impact ideas to opinion leaders and the media; by building networks of lawyers, law students, judges, and policymakers dedicated to those ideas; and by countering the activist conservative legal movement that has sought to erode our enduring constitutional values. By bringing together powerful, relevant ideas and passionate, talented people, ACS makes a difference in the constitutional, legal, and public policy debates that shape our democracy.

We are committed to voicing and addressing the issues facing Asian-Pacific Americans at BU Law, in Boston, and in the legal community at large. We sponsor various academic, networking, social, and community service events such as an annual Mentorship Dinner, a Lunar New Year Dinner, Meet The Firms, and a Greater Boston APALSA Conference that brings Boston-area APALSA groups together with the Asian American Lawyers Association of Massachusetts(AALAM). In so doing, APALSA hopes to help its members define their roles not only in the legal community, but also in the larger community.

The BU Black Law Students Association (BLSA) was founded in 1970 to provide support, direction, and community for Black students in professional and academic development.  A member of the National Black Law Students Association, BU BLSA serves to promote awareness of the relationship between race and justice in the American legal system. BU BLSA strives to enhance the experiences of Black law students by providing assistance to members in the development of their legal careers and to provide opportunities for exposure to various aspects of the legal profession.  We are committed to acting positively in the development of Black self-determination at large and strive to build ties between all segments of the Black community. We endeavor to cultivate a cohesive and culturally vibrant BU Law campus community.

Mission
The Business Law Society provides students with the opportunity to pursue their interest in business law beyond the classroom. We host networking and speaking events aimed at bringing successful professionals to the law school. We promote interaction and networking between various student groups and schools.

The Chinese Law Association (“CLA”) is dedicated to providing a platform for BU Law students and legal scholars interested in Chinese law, Chinese legal practices, and U.S.-China relations to develop a deeper understanding of Chinese legal doctrines, compare and contrast the two nation’s legal systems, and discuss potential careers in the Chinese legal market. The Association shall establish a forum so that participants may better understand China’s laws, politics, and society.  Another purpose of this Association is to provide a sense of belonging for all Chinese students at BU Law.

The Federalist Society is a national group of law students, professors, and practitioners who stand for three main principles: (1) the state exists to preserve freedom, (2) the separation of powers is central to our Constitution, and (3) it is the role of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be. At Boston University, we promote critical thought and open dialogue about these principles and other legal issues. The Coalition of International Students and Global Affairs (CISGA) is committed to providing community and support to BU Law students coming from different nations around the world or interested in pursuing a career abroad. We seek to establish a support system for members throughout the entirety of their experience in law school, especially those from abroad transitioning to living, studying, and working in the U.S. We host forums as information sessions about the visa process, remote learning, and OCI for international students to discuss any issue nonimmigrant students at BU Law might have. The Boston University Health Law Association (HLA) brings together students interested in all areas of health law, guided by some of the nation’s top health law faculty. HLA’s mission is to provide the BU Law community with a unique perspective on what is happening within the health/public health field through events, speakers, volunteering opportunities, clinics, externships, internships, and networking. BU Housing, Organizing, & Movement Empowerment Society (HOMES) is a housing justice organization that supports local community organizers and empowers students to creatively apply their legal education to advocate for tenants' rights in collaboration with the broader community. Technology and Intellectual Property Law are distinct yet increasingly interconnected fields that shape innovation, business, and society. The mission of the Intellectual Property & Technology Law Society ("IPTLS") is to expose Boston University School of Law students to both areas of practice while highlighting the significant overlap between them. Through educational programming, professional development opportunities, and community-building initiatives, IPTLS seeks to connect students with attorneys, faculty, alumni, and industry professionals working at the forefront of these rapidly evolving fields.

On the technology side, IPTLS aims to engage students in the broad range of legal issues arising from technological innovation, including cybersecurity, privacy, data governance, artificial intelligence, corporate transactions, employment law, regulatory compliance, and related practice areas. IPTLS seeks to make technology law accessible to all students, regardless of academic background or prior technical experience, and to connect students with the growing technology-focused opportunities available at Boston University School of Law and throughout the legal profession.

On the intellectual property side, IPTLS seeks to introduce students to the many subfields of IP law, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, while demonstrating the critical role intellectual property plays across industries. IPTLS also aims to dispel the misconception that a technical background is required to pursue IP law and to showcase the many opportunities available to students with interests in business, the arts, writing, media, and innovation.

IPTLS will foster a network of professional support composed of attorneys, students, faculty, and alumni. Through panels, networking events, mentorship programs, social events, and other organized programming, the Society will provide members with opportunities to explore career paths, discuss emerging legal issues, and build meaningful professional relationships. By bringing together students interested in both technology and intellectual property law, IPTLS will serve as a forum for examining the legal challenges and opportunities created by innovation in all its forms.

Membership and participation in IPTLS shall be open to all members of the Boston University School of Law community. ITPLS is committed to fostering an inclusive environment that welcomes individuals of all backgrounds and perspectives and supports diversity within the legal profession and within the fields of intellectual property and technology law.

Come out and have some fun playing slow-pitch softball with fellow students. We participate in weekly practices (when the weather is nice), a Saturday softball league (with BC, Northeastern, and Harvard), a softball tournament between local law schools in the fall (Battle of Boston), and an away trip for a nationwide tournament in the spring (University of Virginia Tournament). All years and experience levels are welcome!
