The American Constitution Society (ACS) believes that law should be a force to improve the lives of all people. ACS works for progressive change by shaping debate on vitally important legal and constitutional issues through development and promotion of high-impact ideas to opinion leaders and the media; by building networks of lawyers, law students, judges, and policymakers dedicated to those ideas; and by countering the activist conservative legal movement that has sought to erode our enduring constitutional values. By bringing together powerful, relevant ideas and passionate, talented people, ACS makes a difference in the constitutional, legal, and public policy debates that shape our democracy.

Published jointly with the American Society of Law, Medicine and Ethics since 1975, this is a quarterly, interdisciplinary periodical containing professional articles, student notes, and case comments; summaries of recent legislative and judicial developments; and book reviews in the area of health law and policy. The journal specializes in health care law, both domestic and international. Articles explore bioethics, health care financing, health policy, fraud and abuse, intellectual property, and other health-related fields.

We are committed to voicing and addressing the issues facing Asian-Pacific Americans at BU Law, in Boston, and in the legal community at large. We sponsor various academic, networking, social, and community service events such as an annual Mentorship Dinner, a Lunar New Year Dinner, Meet The Firms, and a Greater Boston APALSA Conference that brings Boston-area APALSA groups together with the Asian American Lawyers Association of Massachusetts(AALAM). In so doing, APALSA hopes to help its members define their roles not only in the legal community, but also in the larger community.

The BU Black Law Students Association (BLSA) was founded in 1970 to provide support, direction, and community for Black students in professional and academic development.  A member of the National Black Law Students Association, BU BLSA serves to promote awareness of the relationship between race and justice in the American legal system. BU BLSA strives to enhance the experiences of Black law students by providing assistance to members in the development of their legal careers and to provide opportunities for exposure to various aspects of the legal profession.  We are committed to acting positively in the development of Black self-determination at large and strive to build ties between all segments of the Black community. We endeavor to cultivate a cohesive and culturally vibrant BU Law campus community.

A biannual journal established in 1980 that provides a forum for student interests and scholarship in the field of international law. Established in 1921, the Law Review provides analysis and commentary on all areas of the law. It is published six times a year (September, October, December, January, March, and May), containing articles contributed by law professors and practicing attorneys from all over the world, along with notes written by student members. The Business Law Society provides students with the opportunity to pursue their interest in business law beyond the classroom. We host networking and speaking events aimed at bringing successful professionals to the law school. We promote interaction and networking between various student groups and schools.

The Chinese Law Association (“CLA”) is dedicated to providing a platform for BU Law students and legal scholars interested in Chinese law, Chinese legal practices, and U.S.-China relations to develop a deeper understanding of Chinese legal doctrines, compare and contrast the two nation’s legal systems, and to discuss potential career in the Chinese legal market. The Association shall establish a forum so that participants may better understand China’s laws, politics, and society.  Another purpose of this Association is to provide a sense of belonging for all Chinese students at BU Law.

The Client Counseling Competition focuses on the skills essential to effective client communication. Sponsored by the Law Student Division of the American Bar Association, this competition involves teams of two students each who engage in an initial consultation with a client about whom they have very limited information. Judges score each team according to nationally-based criteria, assessing students’ knowledge of the law and their ability to ask the right questions and elicit the important information. Winners proceed to competitions at the regional and national level.

The Coalition of International Students and Global Affairs (CISGA) is committed to providing community and support to BU Law students coming from different nations around the world or interested in pursuing a career abroad. We seek to establish a support system for members throughout the entirety of their experience in law school, especially those from abroad transitioning to living, studying, and working in the U.S. We host forums as information sessions about the visa process, remote learning, and OCI for international students to discuss any issue nonimmigrant students at BU Law might have. We hope to foster a caring community of students and alumni not only for the nonimmigrant students but also for those who are interested in global practice.”
