Judge Pratt is a retired senior judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa. During his visit throughout the month of September, both BU Law’s Advocacy & Legal Services department and the Career Development Office have organized several lectures and coffee breaks to chat with Judge Pratt and learn about his career, judicial clerkships, and more.

Cohosted with the American Constitution Society, join us lunch from Milk Street and a conversation with Judge Pratt and, founder of ACS, Judge Rubin. The discussion will look at the origins of the federalist takeover of the federal and state judiciaries, the efforts to counter this through the founding of the ACS, and the future of the judiciary.

Join us for the Annual Max. M. Shapiro Lecture, featuring a panel discussion between three distinguished federal judges: Judge Robert Pratt, Judge Nancy Gertner and Judge McConnell. Moderated by Professor Zohra Ahmed, the conversation will explore their unique journeys to the bench, their shared commitment to justice, and the ongoing challenges in the judicial system.
